Green Cell Technologies® (GCT®) is a triple bottom line* and global 4IR technology innovation company. The company is headquartered in the Isle of Man, with a Centre of Excellence in Cape Town, South Africa.

GCT® has developed Dynamic Cellular Disruption (DCD®) and Disruptor ® Technology – advanced extraction technology for the processing industry – which it licenses to clients around the world. The company holds several international patents/patents pending and trademarks.

Whilst the company is primarily concerned with the innovation, development and licensing of its technology, it does conduct trials, new product development and toll manufacture for a variety of clients – the majority of this is done at its Centre of Excellence.

From the ground up…

We’re on a mission to smartly revolutionise the production of life-sustaining elements, whether it be human food and beverage, animal feed, earth supplements or even biofuel. Not much has changed since the original industrial revolution except the machines have got shinier, had a computer bolted onto them and a few extra zeroes.

We change all that with our technology that makes it easier for manufacturers to utilise all the source material, increase their yields and bottom lines and improve the overall health of the planet. Benefits of DCD®

DCD® extracts and stabilises “active” molecules within cell structures without the need for chemicals or harmful heat
Denaturing of source material is vastly reduced with DCD®
Substantial release of molecules (“actives”) up to 99.999998%
DCD® achieves significantly higher phytochemistry/chemistry purity resulting in higher yields from all source material – the entire plant can be used for example
More effective extracts mean smaller quantities of extract required to achieve the desired or proven effect
Highly cost-effective production – more margins and savings can be passed onto consumers or used to increase the consumer pool
The DCD® process is highly effective, consistently amplifying phytochemistry/chemistry having, for example, shown up to a 350% increase in polyphenols and H-Oracs – the active molecules needed for stemming the tide of free radicals. This is when measured against freshly squeezed juice

Extractions performed using Disruptor® technology and the DCD® process, are reduced to a molecular level. This allows for the manufacture/production of end user products that would not normally be possible with conventional extraction methods – opens up the market to a raft of possibilities

These products include, but are not limited to, water soluble powders or water disbursable products for use in smoothies, bars, creams, juices etc
The end-product is then applicable but not limited to the food and beverage, nutraceutical, pharmaceutical, cosmeceutical, agri-chemical, animal feed and Bio-fuel industries and has a variety of benefits and applications within those industries
DCD® also makes it easier to isolate specific molecules of interest on a client directed basis.

The Disruptor®

The Disruptor® is the ‘machine’ that accelerates the source material fed into the system, to many times the speed of sound, then decelerates it in a nanosecond, stretching the cell structure beyond its elasticity until it snaps, and in so doing releasing its inherent chemistry

Disruptors® are available in 1 to 18 tons/hour capacity and may be placed in parallel to match any required throughput. The Disruptor® has a duty cycle of 22 hours per day (allowing for CIP) and 29 days a month (allowing for maintenance).

Our Services

What we offer

Process Consulting

We consult to clients around the world where we offer equipment, a complete skid of equipment for plug and play in an existing facility or a full turnkey project for a brand new processing plant that is DCD®-centric.

Trials

We conduct trials on client materials that are sent to us or that we source, for proof of concept, due diligence etc on Disruptor® technology. These trials take place in the Cape Town, South Africa centre of excellence, which will soon be expanded to include a centre of excellence on the Isle of Man to service clients.

New Product Development

We work with existing manufacturers to create new products which are DCD®-centric, helping them to diversify revenue streams, streamline operations and reduce waste among other benefits.

Toll Manufacturing

The pilot plants and centres of excellence offer limited manufacturing capabilities after products have been developed and finalised with a view to assisting clients whilst the Disruptor® build for their order is underway.

Licensing

We offer three options for licensing.

One-on-one licensing agreement – where an entity purchases a Disruptor® for a specific manufacturing capability only
Regional license – where an entity can purchase a license for a geographic region to penetrate that region across all industry sectors (except those already under exclusive license), where the license holder can derive profit share on all Disruptor® sales
Exclusivity – for a particular product in a specific industry, globally or by delineated region.

Our Team

Roy Henderson

Chief Executive Officer

Roy is a co-founder of Green Cell Technologies (GCT®) and the company’s CEO. A highly decorated retired combat officer with a successful naval career spanning 21 years, has elicited a curious mind, honed by an MBA and a drive to succeed. This has culminated in the creation and development of the ground-breaking technology – Dynamic Cellular Disruption and Disruptor Technology.

Roy has a refreshing reputation for forthrightness and tenacity. Everyone knows where they stand with him and with the company, which is appreciated by clients and colleagues alike. His can-do attitude, coupled with proven business acumen and a strong leaning towards problem solving, have also stood him and GCT® in good stead as the company has self-funded its way from innovation to global commercial success.

Jan Vlok

Research and Development Director

Co-founder of Green Cell Technologies, Jan’s experience in the world of nutrition and formulation spans a career of many years. He has worked with several industry luminaries, specializing in developing and answering the specific needs of high-performance professional sportsmen and women – working with over 1000 athletes. Also honest, and straightforward to a fault, Jan’s ever-questing brain and thirst for knowledge has seen him explore several scientific frontiers.

As Director of Research and Development for Green Cell Technologies (GCT), Jan can let his fertile and creative imagination have free reign. Jan’s primary role is to refine and continuously develop methods, systems, and technologies for more efficient plant extraction to answer the growing demand for healthy sustenance, as well as spearheading the company’s new product development sector in conjunction with Roy.

Pete Martin

Pete is a shareholder and member of the GCT board and ‘connector’. He has extensive corporate and entrepreneurial experience working across the South African and United Kingdom business arenas, big and small. He uses his extensive knowledge of sound business practice to work closely with entrepreneurs and CEOs as they develop their businesses strategy. His style is both strategic and hands on, more interested in the practical reality of business than theoretical niceties and focuses on achieving real business results that pay for their clients’ investment many times over.

Donovan Gordon

Donovan is a shareholder and on the board of Green Cell Technologies, where he is responsible for process and mechanical design at GCT and to the company’s clients. He has a BSc (Eng) from the University of Cape Town and is a member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers and the South African Institution of Chemical Engineers. Over a long and recognised career, he has designed and commissioned several high-profile specialist F&B and F&B-related manufacturing and processing plants – locally and internationally.

Kaz Henderson

Kaz is GCT’s ‘communicator’ responsible for the company’s marketing and communications. As a director of “possibilities” and a creative at heart, she has had a successful career spanning more than 35 years in the industry, developing and implementing communication strategies, generating awareness, and building positive reputational capital for a variety of organisations across multiple industry sectors. Her experience extends to working with local and international blue-chip organisations, as well as the start-up space, with a particular love for technology companies.
